Stones in Motion :: Creative Freeform Cabochons Handcrafted by Ed Orekar

My Name is Ed Orekar, I live in San Jose, California. I was born and raised in San Francisco and I don't think I'd ever want to live anywhere else besides the Bay Area.

It seems I've always had some kind of creative hobby to enjoy in my spare time, mostly having something to do with woodworking. I got started working with stones a few years ago when I decided to build a rock tumbler. I tried polishing some rocks I had picked up at the beach, and when they failed to shine like I had hoped they would, I turned to the internet to look for answers.

I came across www.rocktumblinghobby.com and that's when it all started. After reading the information there and joining the message board where members share their ideas and photos, I was hooked. I was lucky enough to obtain an 18" slab saw and a cab grinder for under $500 and proceeded to learn the art of making cabs. Working with stone to reveal its true beauty is in some ways like working with wood to reveal its beauty. I take great pride in my finished work and I settle for nothing short of perfection. I enjoy cutting cabs using different types of stones and being creative in deciding the shape and pattern of what will become a piece of jewelry and be worn for the world to see.

Enjoy your visit to my site and check back often, as I will be adding new items all the time.
